Design tools: Tinkercad, Meshmixer, Inkscape. Tinkercad's super-intuitive interface makes it incredibly easy to make 3d shapes. Meshmixer can import models from Tinkercad to perform more artistic or organic type operations. Inkscape is brilliant for constructing 2D shapes and for tracing "blocky" images like jpgs into smooth, easy to cut/print vector format. Save them as svg format and Tinkercad can import them as a 10mm deep "stamp" type design. And they're all FREE!
